Bay of Islands – Time Travel Part 1

Going to try and catch up on a few pre-blogging adventures from the North Island when I have time, here is the first, the stunning Bay of Islands!

The town of Russel was very charming, despite its whaling history and previous name (Hell Hole!) The Russel Museum is a must see, very interesting and informative… http://russellmuseum.org.nz

Kayaking was the highlight of the trip, we paddled from the mainland to a small island and back, amazing views and even saw some dolphins!

The video below was taken from the small island in the shallows, teeming with fish!

At camp, the highlight was definitely the birdlife, we made friends with a curious little Weka and could hear Kiwis calling all night 😀

The Bay of Islands also saw the death of Bens camping chair… It was a spectacular moment 😛
