Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony

On Saturday evening we wondered over to the Blue Penguin Colony in Oamaru. It is a viewing area that has been set up beside a wild Blue Penguin colony, we went to an evening viewing to watch them waddle up out of the sea after a days fishing.

Unfortunately you are not allowed to take any photographs of the penguins when they are walking up the beach to their nest boxes (stupid people using flashes stopped that 😦 ). I did manage to get a photo of the Fur seal that was casually lying on the pathway that the penguins used, which gave them a bit of a fright when they first got up the hill!

I have also included a few photos from around the harbour, it was a rather beautiful part of the world 🙂
